Can I recycle my old electric blanket?

Recycling your old electric blanket is easy! Please recycle your electric blanket at your local recycling centre. To find your nearest centre, visit the Recycle More website and type in your postcode.

Why it is important to recycle your old electric blanket?

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle electrical equipment

will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

We’re proud to support your local authority in providing local recycling facilities for electrical equipment.

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with this symbol) in your bin.

What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items.

 How are we helping?

In the UK, distributors including retailers must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. As a responsible retailer, we have met the requirements placed on us by financially supporting the national network of WEEE recycling centres established by local authorities. This is achieved through membership of the national Distributor Take-back scheme (DTS).

To find more information on WEEE recycling and to locate your nearest recycling centre please visit the Recycle More website.  www.recycle-more.co.uk

What is the difference between and underblanket and mattress cover/protector?

An underblanket lies flat on the bed and secures in place with tie tapes.

A Mattress Cover/Protector has an elasticated skirt around the edge and covers the entire mattress for full protection.

What is an overblanket?

An overblanket can be placed inside the duvet cover, or on top of you with a sheet between you and the overblanket.

Are Electric Blankets safe to put in the washing machine/tumble dryer?

All of our electric blankets come with a detachable control enabling them to be washed and tumble dried. You simply detach the cord and place the blanket in the washing machine. Please refer to the satin label for the maximum temperature that they can be washed at.

Are they suitable for all night use?

All Dreamland blankets are safe for all night use.

If you own a Dreamland blanket, just follow the user friendly guide in the instruction booklet and switch your control on to all night setting before retiring for bed.

What does dual control mean?

It gives you individual control to heat up one side of the bed independently from the other, keeping you both happy and warm all night long, whatever your preferred temperature.

How often should I have my blanket services?

Your blanket should be returned for a safety inspection at least once every 3 years. It should be suitably packed with control, lead and original fitted plug. To ensure minimum inconvenience, return your blanket for routine safety inspection between April and September.

Which side of the blanket is the control on?

If you are lying on your back, it would be on your right side.

Are electric blankets expensive to use?

All Dreamland blankets are extremely low to run, and cost from as little as 2p per night. So it’s worth investing in an electric blanket and turning your central heating off.

Do the blankets have extra foot warmth?

Most Dreamland electric blankets come with extra foot warmth, you can check this on the products specification shown in on the product pages on our website.

How does the timer control work?

Most of our blankets come with a timer option operated via the control. For example, if you set your switch to the specified time to 12 hours/75min  your blanket will stay on for the selected time. Once the time has elapsed a red light will flash on the control. The blanket will automatically be switched off.

How do I get my Ready For Bed Blanket to heat up in 10 minutes?

To heat the bed in 10 minutes,  switch on the blanket by selecting the heating time (75 min or 12 hours settings). Set the thumbwheel to setting 9. When using level 9, approximately 10 minutes should be allowed to let the blanket heat the bed.

All Ready for Bed blankets are 150 Watts.

All standard electric blankets, 55-60 Watt, take longer than 30 minutes to acheive the maximum temperature.

Can I use an underblanket with my memory foam or latex mattress?

Due to the variations and constructions of memory foam and latex mattresses, we recommend you refer to the manufacturer or retailer for advice.

I have a Pacemaker fitted, is it safe for me to use an electric blanket?

Unfortunately we advise against the use of under blanket if you have a Pacemaker fitted.

For further details, please refer to your pacemaker supplier.
